I started surfing in 1993 on the East Coast of Scotland when I was at school. My friends and I were often left all day at the beach by whoever's parents were kind enough to take us. This happened even when the sand was frozen solid!
I'm a bit softer these days and, thanks to improvements in wetsuits, you won't have to suffer in the same way! Also, the water here is a lot warmer than in most of the UK.
I have tried many sports but none have held the appeal of surfing, one of the fastest growing sports in the world. This love of surfing led me to Tiree a few years ago. I've spent so long at Tiree's beaches that it seemed stupid not to work there so I started a surf school. It also saves on a suit and tie job - I hope the only suit I have to wear is made of rubber! I'll do my best to pass on my enthusiasm for surfing to everyone who visits.
